Helen and I would like to personally invite your school groups to come to our farm for a field trip. Our farm tour would be great for a family group, scout troop, church group, civic group, club or group from industry. Come and learn the working of a real Christmas tree farm.

What is taking place?

A new back-to-the farm trend is sweeping the country helping satisfy a need to return to our more basic roots. Agritourism has become a new industry offering individuals, families and groups a chance to observe or participate in the daily operation of farming.

Sugar Plum farms (JRP Nursery) offers you, your family or your tour group an opportunity to see one of North Carolina's finest tree farms in its daily activities.

.....learn from guided tour leaders why the North Carolina Fraser Fir is on the way to becoming #1!

.....try your hand at making a door wreath or swag using fresh Fraser Fir boughs-we furnish the materials and instructions.

.....if your visit is in warm weather, you may pre-select a North Carolina Fraser Fir tree and we'll help you tag it with your name.

Learn about Fraser Fir production and why it is becoming the top economic source in Western North Carolina. ...participate in shearing, cutting, baling and loading trees.

Also available:

Hayrides through the Christmas tree plantation with apples, peanuts, beverages - (seasonal). Trout fishing-(seasonal) slight additional cost.

Large groups or families prearranged - you can have a barbecue or picnic (you choose the menu, we supply). Eat at our rustic picnic tables overlooking the large trout pond (equipped with beautiful white ducks). Gorgeous mountain scenery visible from the 4000'+ top of our farm. Enjoy yourself in the midst of our beautiful, fragrant trees!
